Also, I am on page 193 of 339 of Aubrie L. Nixon’s Darkness Whispers. Hoping I can finish it and add it to this list before the year is up! Wish me luck!

And I have one other update for you all…BookBub alerted me about something very special- a new deal on a David Arnold ebook! If you have not yet read Mosquitoland (how you passed up this incredible gem IDEK) now is your chance to get it deeply discounted!  I plan to post my review of this fantastic piece of work soon!

It’s Finally Relaunch Day!!!

Posted in book reviews, Books at 11:29 PM by Rockin' Rita

Yey!!! It’s here!!! The big day is finally here!

Today is relaunch day
and it comes complete with a mini book review!

Welcome everyone to The Procrastinate Reader! I am super excited to be relaunching my old Rockin’ Tips blog in a completely different format- a book blog!

First thing’s first:
You may ask why didn’t you just wipe out your old blog or create a new one?
There’s a simple answer for this. I like my old blog but feel like I’ve grown so much as a person over the past 5 years since my last post. I’ve evolved and so will this blog.

Introduction:
This blog (TPR) will still be random just like my last one however it will be much more focused around the central theme of books. I’m looking for all kinds of people to interview for The Procrastinate Reader- authors, fellow book bloggers, bookstagramers, booktubers, booklrs, readers, even haters of books and reading. I am also interested in having guest posters and reviewing books. Easiest way to get in touch with me is a Twitter DM (@RockinRita03) as I’m most likely to respond to that method the quickest! You can also email me at RockinRitaBlogs(at)gmail(dot)com.

I also have another blog I’ve recently relaunched. Rockin’ Randomness can be found on Blogger.

Time for some fun!!

I recently finished reading YA Author/Clinical Psychologist Becky Albertalli‘s debut novel Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens AgendaI ordered my copy from Becky’s local indie bookstore FoxTale Book Shoppe as they had autographed copies and Becky had tweeted that anybody who ordered it from FoxTale could get it personalized by her. I typically go for discounted books as I’m the type of person who doesn’t believe in spending more than they actually need to. That being said to get not only an autographed copy but one that was personalized and from an indie bookstore–you just can’t put a price tag on that! Unfortunately Becky got busy and never made it to FoxTale before they shipped my book out so I didn’t get it personalized. But what Becky did afterwards more than made up for it! She sent me a bunch of SIMON Vs. swag!

SIMON vs

First thing I wanna say about Simon Vs. is why didn’t books like this exist when I was younger?! The writing is magnificent and the story is so enthralling! The characters come to life and you feel like you’re right there with them. SIMON vs is a LGBTQ love story that will have you playing a guessing game as you learn more and more about 16 year old high school junior Simon Spier, his friends, and Blue, the boy he fell in love with over email–oh and the kid who’s blackmailing him!! Yup- blackmail, romance, m/m, friendship, family.

This book has it all! As you delve deeper and deeper into the story you will go through many many bags of Oreo cookies (Simon’s fave)! The story is that good and intense! I myself went through two big bags of mini oreos while reading one short chapter! I can’t put into words just how good this book is except to say that it really is as good as everyone says! I will recommend it highly forever!

10 out of 5 stars for me!!

Also, if you buy the paperback version of Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda you also get a sneak peek at Becky’s sophomore effort The Upside of Unrequited! These books are worth every penny but don’t take my word for it- go read it for yourself!
